This story is from the June 12, 2009 edition of the Orlando Sentinel, http://www.orlandosentinel.com/business/malcolm-bricklin-car-051809,0,1154448.story?track=rss Bricklin describes his vision on installing Hydrogen On Demand equipment on 300,000 unsold U.S. automobiles: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yxsqXqZcNwA | Sentinel Automotive EditorMalcolm Bricklin, a graduate of Boone High
School and a legendary automotive entrepreneur, says he has spent the last year
spending time and money developing "something everybody said was a
scam.'' Bricklin said he would cherry-pick from the manufacturers' existing dealer network to find the best dealers and they would sell and service the cars. Those familiar with Bricklin, 70, should not be surprised at his grand vision. He was the first to import Subaru into the U.S. market, and the last to import Fiats, which are supposed to return as part of the Fiat partnership with Chrysler. Bricklin manufactured his own sports car, the Bricklin SV-1 — SV stood for "Safety Vehicle" – and the car helped pioneer some safety features. But Bricklin is best known for importing the Yugo, the $3,995 car that he described as "equivalent to a used car, but with a new car warranty.'' At the heart of his idea, and the portion most likely to raise eyebrows
within the automotive community, is the addition of a high-performance, on-board
hydrogen "electrolyser" that would he says would split distilled water into
hydrogen and oxygen, then injects those gases directly into the air intake of
the engine.
